Rebekka Van Bockstal

Rebekka Van Bockstal (1994, Lier) is a dynamic young guitar player, who gets her inspiration from the many traditions and possibilities jazzmusic offers. While composing her own music, she feels inspired by musicians like Pierre Van Dormael, Robin Verheyen, Lage Lund, Maria Schneider,…

In 2012 Rebekka started at the Jazz division of the Conservatory of Ghent. Here she was taught for three years by Hans Van Oost, it was his drive and passion for the music that inspired her and continues to do so until this day. After receiving her bachelor’s degree, Rebekka decided it was time for some change. In 2015 she chose to continue her studies in Brussels and persue her masters degree at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. She’s currently finishing of this degree under tutelage of Peter Hertmans.

She got her first live-experience playing with Art Brut 5tet. In 2015 the band got some acknowledgement as a finalist in the ‘Concourse XL Jazz’-competition during the Brussels Jazz Marathon. From 2016 her main musical focus became her own quartet: RVB Quartet. This project gave her the opportunity to share and perform her own compositions for the first time. Currently, Rebekka is writing music for a new project, Tadpole Evolution, wich will also be her final project at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. She’s also the lead guitarist with singer Diana Aivia and with The Andrews Brothers.
